After The Ball

My Dears,

A lovely time was had at our annual Armistice Ball. We had a nice turnout, the band delighted us with some great music for dancing, and the Afterglow party at Harmonie House was absolutely divine.

Harmonie House hours before the revelry.

Downstairs at Harmonie House.. Mr. Knightley kept watch from the stairs...while upstairs several of us were busy getting into our gowns, and tuxedos.

Having given my lady's maid the night off...I settled for the butler to help me fasten my gown. *smiles*

The band, led by well known Vince Giordano, gave a stellar performance and provided us with tunes to kick our heels...foxtrots, one-steps, tangos, blues, and waltzes.

The dancers were pleased as pie and were having a ball!

Tis I...dancing away to a one-step

C'est moi..again!

It was lovely to be twirled around the room to the music of another era..long gone. Alas, like Cinderella, I had to leave the ball much earlier...for I had to get the home and prepare for the Afterglow party.

This was only the beginning. By the time all the guests (31) arrived, the table was heavily laden with food...hot and cold dishes. Wine and champagne flowed as did the smiles.

...with Dan Levinson and his lovely wife Molly

Vince relaxing after a fabulous musical night
and chatting away with Tom & Sue.

He and his Nighthawks take us back in time with the authentic sounds of the 20's & 30's.

Dear friend Tom entertained the whole weekend on my Lauter.

After the party...yes, it went on till very late...I was thoroughly exhausted. However, that didn't stop me or my weekend guests from enjoying some ragtime coming from the talented Tom on the piano. Twas 2am, we let our hair down, took our shoes off, and I served coffee (yes..regular not decaf). We listened to music..while we all reclined and talked about the ball and party..we were still glowing.

Yes, the mistress of the house was tired..but still glowing.

Happy days to all!

  5. Miss Sandra,
I am enthralled by your home!
The wood trim, stain glass windows and decor
brings back memories of my younger days visiting at my grandparents home.
Their home resembled yours very much.
    Exquisite!

And a lovely hostess to make the evening complete!
    You look lovely~

  6. Dear Joy,
Indeed there was wonder and enjoyment. It was a magical evening. Hope you are well my dear. Kisses to you and to Raiden..the most adorable baby ever.

    Mary,
Thank you! I do hope that in your dream you danced the night away and joined the merriment at my home. Sweet dreams are made of this.

    Auntie Amelia,
Thank you much! You made me laugh dear..so you want to know about the "butler" huh? What is there to say? He is a dear friend and fellow vintage dancer. He was the epitome of all that is expected of a wonderful guest...a gent, a helping hand...an entertainer (piano)...just delightful and gracious. We constantly broke into song..while doing dishes, setting the table, or just sitting around. It was much fun having him around. He shall be back for my Christmas tea. This "Jeeves" is a keeper!

    Eastlake Victorian,
Thank you..and thank you for stopping by!The idea for this Armistice Ball came about several years ago by one of the ladies in the vintage dance group. We all love that particular era and knew it would become a popular event with the rest of the vintage dance community out there. I enjoy hosting all kinds of affairs at Harmonie House..though I must say the house and its hostess prefers the historic events. The gown I wore was one I made eight years ago. It was actually the first ballgown sewn by me. I am quite fond of it. Thank you again!! Please stop by often.

    Mary Jane,
You are a dear. Thank you so much! What's funny is that I hear that all the time..my home has reminded many of their grandparent's home. It truly warms my heart. I want my guests to feel at home when they visit. I want to impart that cozy, comfy feeling...and I think being linked to grandma's house begets such warm fuzzies.
Please stop by often. Nice to see you!

To all of you dears..I send hugs all around! As the saying goes.."Mi casa es tu casa". Stop by as often as you wish..and do stay for tea!
